The community service aspect of Men Of Vision & Excellence is truly a defining element within our organization. Next to our responsibility to faith and family, serving our community will always be a primary driving force behind the legacy that we want to create and leave behind whenever and wherever we are called to serve.
When people within our community hear about what M.O.V.E. is involved in, our hope is that they will see us as examples of men that are not ashamed to be known for the love and care of all people, but especially those who are in the most challenging situations in life: the hungry, the homeless, the fatherless, the widows; those who are hurting and without hope.
It will always be a primary purpose of M.O.V.E. to practice what it means to be willing to give time to those in need and to offer hope to those who are less fortunate.
Community Dinner: Wednesday evenings (5:45-7:45pm)
Join us as we eat dinner with our homeless friends in the community. A fantastic opportunity for you to share a meal so that you can begin building relationships as you listen and learn about what’s going on in their lives. These men, women, and children desperately need us to encourage and remind them of God’s love for them. This “once a month” commitment has the potential to become one of the most effective ways for you to personally grow in the area of service and compassion toward others. Grace Community Church, 643 W. Lee St.
NightWatch: Friday nights (7:30pm-until)
Sponsored by Salvation Army. Serving homeless folks who sleep outside in Greensboro, by providing food, hygiene kits, Bibles, prayer and encouragement. If you are interested in participating, please email us so that we can have you complete a Salvation Army volunteer service application.
Pampering Events: (various dates throughout the year)
Several times each year, MOVE sponsors pampering events at the Children’s Museum of Greensboro for homeless women and their children. Ladies from local emergency shelters and transitional housing and rehabilitation programs spend the evening having their hair and nails done, receiving massages and enjoying a catered dinner. Meanwhile, their children get lots of love and attention from MOVE volunteers as they play in the Children’s Museum. Pampering and childcare is all done by volunteers and donations pay for the meals and other expenses. If you’d like to help in some way with our pampering events, please email us.
