Cafe Claus - Crazy Good!

The night was awesome…crazy good!! The recent Café Claus event at the Greensboro Children’s Museum was one of the best things we, as individuals and as an organization, have ever been part of! Without a doubt, the volunteers got just as much fulfillment and satisfaction out of the experience as the ladies and children that we served!
Without the partnership of the museum and all of the selfless men, women, and children who came together to pull it off, it could never have happened. We are determined to give God the credit for the positive influence and impact that was made that night. There are so few times when a group comes together with such unity and single-minded purpose to serve others. But on the evening of December 1st, 2007, those who were with us witnessed a powerful example of Christ’s love being delivered through His people…the true meaning of Christmas.
Here’s one somewhat humorous example of so many special things that happened that night. One of our female volunteers was determined not to be assigned to a baby…she was willing to keep watch over children of any other age….just not a baby. She avoided being asked during the early arrivals, but there was a young mother who arrived late and there were no volunteers available at that point to take care of…you guessed it…her 5 month old baby boy…except one! You already know who agreed, with great reluctance, to take care of the child…the previously mentioned “anti-baby” volunteer! I can’t give you all the details, but the ongoing story involves the volunteer falling in love with the baby…and mom. The volunteer has already been out to see the mom and her baby where they live with gifts (make-up, accessories, etc.) that the mom said she could never afford even if she wanted to.
Like I said before…crazy good! Needless to say, God was big time in our midst! Again, thanks to each of you, your family members, and all who participated. Your support is humbling beyond words. Our leadership team is honored to have served with many of you for this special holiday gift to our friends at The Center of Hope, Hannah’s Haven, Urban Ministries, Mary’s House & Homes, The Pathways Center, and Partnership Village.
Merry Christmas and God bless you all! Jeff
