Does She Turn You on?

Does your wife turn you on? Trust me, my wife turns me on!! It’s not always in the way that I would like to be turned on, but she does get me excited on a very regular basis! Like it or not…being excited by my wife, even in an unpleasant way, is an indication that we are striving to work things out. If you’re not fighting…for her, about her, even with her sometimes…something’s gone wrong. I’m not suggesting that when we fight that we should be emotionally or physically abusive. But fighting for intimacy, closeness, even order in our homes…is not only important, but critically necessary if you have a desire to be known and respected as the spiritual leader of your home.

You’ve always been told that fighting is wrong. Trust me again…if you or anyone else tries to come between God and His children…He will not be calm nor will He “turn the other cheek”! I hope that you will respond in similar fashion if your relationship with your wife is threatened or endangered…by an overcommitted lifestyle, your career, her career, even your children’s demands. As soon as you stop fighting for excellence in your relationship with your wife…you’re done, cooked! Stick a fork in it!!

Show me a man who has quit fighting for time and intimacy with his wife and I’ll show you a man who’s giving up on his marriage! Sure, we’ve all felt like giving up from time to time, but there are amazing practical, spiritual, and eternal rewards for being committed to remaining “the man of one wife”. What are you doing about staying committed? For some of us, nothing at all! For most of us, not nearly enough!

Many of us have not fought hard enough to keep what’s so graciously been given to us…the gift of a woman who’s pledged her life to the man of her dreams. Are you still the man of her dreams? She needs and wants to know that you are still willing to fight for her heart, her love, her body, her soul. Stop dwelling on all the ways you think she’s not living up to your expectations and start dwelling on becoming the irresistible man of her dreams that she somehow could not keep her hands off of in days gone by. Need I say more? Are you thinking?
