I’m Ticked! Part 2

Who am I supposed to believe? The creator of the universe? Or should you and I believe all of the naysayers and miserable “failures” who so quickly and boldly proclaim that life “just stinks and then you die”, while at the same time arrogantly justifying their unwillingness to follow God’s lead! In fact, those same naysayers are often the one’s who blame God and everybody else for much their misery! “If God was real, life wouldn’t stink this much!” How convenient.

Am I supposed to believe the guy who actually thinks that even if I do my imperfect best to walk with God, my life still has to stink!? I think not! No…I know not! If you don’t mind, I’ll go home tonight knowing and believing that if I “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness” that all I need for success in my life will be…not may be…will be provided for me…by God. Can you imagine if you and I truly believed that statement…which by the way…the actual “Son of God” spoke from His very mouth while living, breathing, and walking on this very earth some 2000 years or so ago!

If you are like me and so many others who have struggled or are struggling with that type of defeated “woe is me” mindset, I challenge you to stop dead (or alive) in your tracks and decide that you are not going to accept the “life stinks” lie any longer! Instead, let’s become more determined to “choose life” on earth, “not death”! Let’s start by agreeing with what God says about His people! We can begin by speaking up more, standing firm more, and being more proactive for the “faith” which so many of us claim to live by!

How about if we decide together, right now…to start believing the promises that God himself has declared for His people. “I don’t even know His promises”, you might say. If you don’t know the promises of God, then you need to stop acting as though you do! Talk about life or death! If we’re going to be serious about living an abundant life to the fullest, we must not only learn (hear and read) about the truth, we must receive (agree with) the truth, and be willing to apply and activate (belief) the truth in our daily living…you can start by locating promises in the Bible, reading them in context, meditating on them, even memorizing them if you’re really nuts…jk. P.S. Most phrases I have put in “quotes” in this series are Bible verses (a.k.a.…the truth). You didn’t think I was making this stuff up did you? .

Once you begin to discover or rediscover the truth, you’ll begin to think differently…your attitudes change. You’ll always find your words quickly following your attitudes… the words that come out of your mouth. Everybody likes to tell you what they think, right? Soon you won’t be able to stop your actions and reactions from following your heart…the truest evidence of actual belief. I challenge you to choose to believe and pursue what He says…not the lies that tell us that we should live and die in total disregard of “the way, the truth, and the life.”

I have my own bold declaration if you please! I’m going to choose to stand firm in my confidence that you and I were not created to be born, to live, and then to die having left behind no more positive impact on our world than the guys who are just going through the motions of life, waiting for it to end so they can finally meet their maker or meet their demise! For far too long, most of us have settled for the “turn the other cheek” mentality to justify the heavy burdens of life. The world around us would suggest that we have to accept life for the hell that it is and “take it like a man”! No you don’t! And neither do I.

Listen, Jesus did what He did for you and me because He loves us that much. He didn’t have to! He chose to! Trust me, He was in total control. “…at my disposal more than 12 legions of angels…” Those words don’t sound like He’s out of control. In a book I’m studying, the author posed this question, “How would telling people to be nice to one another get a man crucified?” Think about it…sometimes standing firm on the promises of God will cost you something. For most of us in America, it won’t be our life. It could cost you some comfort, or maybe someone’s approval, or maybe even a business deal, heaven forbid! But if you are willing to piss a few people off while in the process of pursuing the right stuff, the promise to you and me is that we will be blessed in greater measure than we can even begin to “ask or think”.

“Now to Him (God) who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think…” Even for the small thinkers among us…that’s a pretty big promise that people have been trying all my life to convince me doesn’t apply to me! Why do you think I’m so ticked?! If you’re not ticked enough by now to want to kick the gates of hell wide open, then like it or not, you have to read part 3! For those of you that are already ticked like me, part 3 is optional……not!
