MOVE’s 4th pampering event is scheduled for Friday, June 1st, 6:30-8:30, at the downtown Greensboro Children’s Museum!
The Salvation Army will provide transportation for the women and children from various shelters around the community, such as The Pathways Center, Partnership Village, The Center of Hope, Mary’s House, Hannah’s Haven, and Urban Ministries. We have averaged about 40 women and 60 children in attendance for each of the last events. Apple Spice Junction will be providing the food once again! In the past we’ve been fortunate to have various professionals from Progressions Salon and Spa, Dudley Cosmetology, Mark Kay Cosmetics, and others. Some will join us again, however, we are in desperate need of several other professional volunteers for the June event.
In addition, the men of MOVE, their wives, and children are encouraged to volunteer for serving dinner as well as watching and playing with the kids throughout the museum while the moms/ladies are pampered with manicures, massages, facials, make-up sessions, and hand treatments. The night is a wonderful opportunity and honor for MOVE volunteers and partners to reflect the love of Jesus as we become a small part of their lives for a few hours! Most of these ladies are facing extreme challenges in their lives and deeply appreciate being encouraged in such fun and practical ways. Most often the volunteers leave the event more blessed and thankful for the experience than those we intended to be a blessing to!
If you or anyone you know has an interest in learning more about the event please visit our website’s “community service” link. Here you’ll find a 3 minute video that includes WFMY News 2 coverage of a past pampering event. Please email us at info@movegreensboro.com if you or someone you know has an interest in serving or supporting this awesome night of food, fun, and pampering! We need to know who you are as soon as possible!
Thanks and God bless you!
